The Ministry of Business Innovation and Employment (MBIE)
The Ministry of Business Innovation and Employment (MBIE) provides advice to the Minister on a wide range of areas associated with economic development. This includes energy and resources policy research, advice and consultation as well as industry promotion and permitting.
The Department has a valuable repository of information concerning New Zealand’s energy industry.
New Zealand Petroleum and Minerals (NZP&M)
NZ Petroleum and Minerals (formerly Crown Minerals) is part of MBIE, reporting directly to the Chief Executive. The unit focuses on the commercial side of New Zealand’s O&G activities including the promotion of petroleum acreage and administering the licencing of exploration.
